Calvin Harris reveals how Robertson and Van Dijk talks led to Liverpool title parade

Liverpool celebrated their Premier League title victory with an open-top bus parade around the city, and there was a special guest in attendance.

Arne Slot’s side won the Premier League with weeks to spare, and the final few games of the season were a celebration of their success.

Liverpool’s final game against Crystal Palace saw them draw 1-1 with the FA Cup winners, but lifted the trophy at Anfield in front of their fans, and there was also a parade to write their success into the history books.

Musician Calvin Harris joined the Liverpool team on their parade bus, and he has now explained how a conversation with Andy Robertson led to this collaboration.

Robertson and Van Dijk invited Harris to Liverpool parade

Harris was present at the Liverpool parade as they celebrated the title victory, and he has now revealed that he was invited by Virgil van Dijk.

Speaking to Liverpool club media, Harris revealed that a conversation with Robertson before the last parade in 2022 led to the idea of the DJ coming to the parade, before Van Dijk reached out to him.

“It all started with Andy Robertson in 2022, and I can’t remember how we first got chatting, I genuinely can’t remember, it must have been some kind of Instagram thing,” he stated.

Liverpool are now joint-top for titles

“I was travelling from it was Liverpool against Newcastle at St James’ Park, we bumped into each other as they were flying back to Liverpool, and then Andy was like ‘would you fancy doing that?’ [parade].

“I think it’s just an idea they just had there, and then one of the senior guys sort of took over and contacted me and made it happen, and then this year, Virg [Van Dijk] took the reins, I guess you know captain and all that, but he was more just like ‘you’re doing the bus.'”

Liverpool finally celebrate title with parade

Liverpool held a parade in 2022 as they won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, but this came after they lost the Champions League final and fell short in the Premier League title race on the final day.

When Liverpool last won the Premier League in 2020, it was during lockdown, and no parade could take place in the city to celebrate their achievement.

Now, they won the title with ease, and were able to fully engage in the celebrations they missed out on in 2020, at Anfield and in the city, and the size of the parade is certainly reflective of that.

The route covers 16 kilometres across Liverpool, and with Harris also in attendance alongside the squad, it has truly been a party atmosphere for Slot’s side.
