Premier League release statement on Liverpool controversy v Crystal Palace on final day
Liverpool drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace in the final game of the season as they lifted the Premier League trophy, in an underwhelming performance.
Neither team had anything to play for, and both were in a celebratory mood as they celebrated their Premier League and FA Cup triumphs.
Liverpool went behind early on as Ismaila Sarr opened the scoring, but Mohamed Salah was able to find an equaliser late on.
Ryan Gravenberch saw red in the second half after fouling Daichi Kamada as the last man, and the Premier League have now issued a statement regarding his sending off.

Premier League issues statement after Gravenberch red card
Gravenberch was shown a straight red card after his foul on Kamada in the 68th minute of the game, and his season ended early as a result.
The Premier League issued a statement immediately after his red card to explain the decision, and confirmed that it was checked by VAR.
“The referee’s call of red card to Gravenberch for denial of an obvious goal scoring opportunity (DOGSO) was checked and confirmed by VAR,” the statement read.
Matches | Assists | Yellow Cards | Minutes |

Gravenberch’s red was for denying Kamada a goalscoring opportunity as the last man, and it was the correct decision from Darren England.
Gravenberch will miss Liverpool’s next Premier League game
Gravenberch will now serve a one-match suspension, which will carry into the next Premier League season, meaning he will miss the opening game of the next campaign.
Liverpool will face Crystal Palace again in the Community Shield in August, and Gravenberch will be available for the match at Wembley, but a week later he will be suspended for his side’s opening game.
The midfielder had an outstanding season as he excelled in a new role under Arne Slot, but it was a poor moment for him against Palace, and Liverpool will be without him for one game.
Gravenberch has become a vital figure, and Liverpool will have to find a solution for his absence as they will aim to start strongly again next season.
