Mo Salah ‘delighted’ with Liverpool fans after what they did to Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool lifted the Premier League trophy at Anfield after a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace on the final day, and fans were in a joyful mood.

Arne Slot’s side delivered an underwhelming performance on Sunday as Mohamed Salah’s late equaliser rescued a point, but there was little focus on the game itself.

Liverpool won the title with ease this season, and the last few games have been a procession, without a win in their final four.

There was a lot of focus on Trent Alexander-Arnold, who came on to make his final appearance for the Reds ahead of his expected move to Real Madrid, but he received a surprise reception.

Liverpool fans gave warm reception to Alexander-Arnold

Alexander-Arnold was heavily booed against Arsenal in his penultimate Anfield appearance, and fans are furious at the manner of his departure.

Some expected him to receive a similar reception when appearing for his final game, but there was a surprise as he was warmly applauded by the Liverpool fans when he came on and when he received his medal.

Several Liverpool players could not believe the booing Alexander-Arnold received before, but Salah was clearly delighted with the warm reception the defender received against Palace.

When Liverpool fans cheered Alexander-Arnold, Salah looked delighted on the pitch and applauded back at the Kop End in response, clearly happy that his teammate had received a good reception.

Alexander-Arnold nearly assists in farewell game

Alexander-Arnold had a positive impact on the game overall, with his passing yet again causing problems for the opposition.

The defender nearly said goodbye to Liverpool with an assist as he played an outstanding long pass to Darwin Nunez, but the striker could not finish beyond Dean Henderson.

The England star has now called time on his 20-year spell at Liverpool, having joined his boyhood club from a young age, and he now looks set to move to Real Madrid.

Many Liverpool fans are still angry with him, but perhaps those in attendance on the day did not want to spoil the title celebrations on a day to remember.
