Darwin Núñez ‘to leave’: Three players Liverpool should sell this summer
Liverpool lifted the Premier League title for just the second time on Sunday and will look to retain it for the first time next season.
Standout star and Premier League player of the season, Mohamed Salah, enjoyed a record-breaking season for the Reds, registering an astronomical 47 goal involvements.
The Egyptians’ consistent fitness throughout the season, along with several other stars, allowed Arne Slot to field a familiar starting lineup for much of the campaign.
But the Dutchman will not want to rely on the same circumstances repeating themselves when his team start again in August.
Already, Liverpool have showcased their willingness to empty the coffers this summer – moves for Bayer Leverkusen duo Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz are advanced.
And transfer chiefs are not ready to stop there, with rumours suggesting further signings could walk through the doors at Melwood in the coming weeks.
Movement is expected the other way too, with Liverpool keen to offset their expenditure by cutting loose the less integral parts of Slot’s squad.

Darwin Núñez
Núñez will certainly be at the top of the list of expected Liverpool departures this summer.
The Reds shelled out an eye-watering initial £64million for the Uruguayan in 2022, and trouble immediately struck when the striker was sent off on his home debut.
Liverpool | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
Darwin Núñez | 143 | 40 | 26 |
He managed to end the season with 15 goals in all competitions, and in his second season, Núñez showed signs of improvement.
However, since Slot’s appointment, the 25-year-old has struggled for minutes on the pitch, with just six league starts this season.
Núñez’s time in Liverpool is expected to end this summer, with several high-profile misses likely to dominate fans’ memories of their number nine.

Wataru Endo
Endo has provided a reliable presence in his two years at Liverpool, stepping in for much of the second half of last season.
This season, however, the Japanese midfielder has struggled for minutes.
The ever-present Ryan Gravenberch has limited the need for Endo – the 32-year-old often constricted to brief appearances off the bench.
With the twilight of his career looming, Endo may look for one last move, allowing Liverpool to seek a younger midfielder more capable of providing competition for Gravenberch.
Joe Gomez
If Gomez is to leave Liverpool, he will go down as a treasured servant of Anfield.
The defender joined from Charlton in 2015 for just £3.5million as a fresh-faced 18-year-old.
In the 10 years since, Gomez has made 241 appearances from both centre-back and right-back, establishing himself as a cult hero when he replaced the injured Joel Matip as Liverpool won their first Premier League title in 2020.
But after a season in which the 28-year-old was restricted to just nine league appearances by a hamstring injury, perhaps it is time to say goodbye.
With Slot’s options in the centre of defence thin, any replacement will likely need to have demonstrated an ability to avoid time spent on the injury table.
