Giorgi Mamardashvili ‘ends player’s Liverpool career’ with new comments
Liverpool raised eyebrows when they signed Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia last year before loaning him back to the Spanish side.
Mamardashvili has been a key figure for Valencia over the years, and also impressed at Euro 2024 with the Georgia National Team.
Liverpool have two top-quality goalkeepers on their books in Alisson and Caoimhin Kelleher, but they will now be joined by the Valencia shotstopper, with decisions to make over their futures.
Kelleher could depart with his future unclear, but a decision has now been made over whether Mamardashvili would go on loan again.

Mamardashvili denies Liverpool loan
Mamardashvili has now spoken about his upcoming arrival at Anfield, and revealed that he has no plans to go out on loan again.
“I’ll go to Liverpool and give my all, just like I did at Valencia,” as per Geo Team on X.
“I’ll work hard every single day, training with Alisson will help me.”

It seems likely that Mamardashvili will stay and compete with Alisson, with Kelleher’s Anfield career now as good as over as a result of these comments.
Alisson has had yet another outstanding season, but he has suffered from occasional injury problems, which could make Mamardashvili a useful asset.
Mamardashvili to compete with Alisson next season
The 24-year-old is clearly seen as the long-term successor to Alisson, and a season of training alongside the Brazilian could benefit him.
Alisson is now 32, and given his injury issues over the years, Liverpool are being proactive over his successor.
A year of adaptation as the second-choice could help him settle at Liverpool, and adapt to the style which Alisson has perfected over the years.
One concern over Mamardashvili remains over his kicking. Alisson has become one of the world’s best goalkeepers with his feet, but this is an area of weakness for the Georgian.
However, his height and shot-stopping ability makes Mamardashvili a top-class option who could still further develop into Alisson’s successor.
He is clearly willing to compete with Alisson, rather than coming straight in as the number one, and Liverpool will have two excellent options heading into next season.
