Liverpool get Alexander Isak answer as Newcastle transfer stance revealed

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Newcastle star Alexander Isak.

Arne Slot is looking to add attacking reinforcements in the summer transfer window in order to defend the Premier League title.

The Swedish star has notched 23 goals and six assists in 33 matches in a stellar campaign at St James’ Park, leading to speculation over a switch to Anfield.

Isak to stay at Newcastle amid Liverpool interest

Fenway Sports Group would have no issues sanctioning a £100million-plus bid for the former Borussia Dortmund star, according to finance expert Dan Plumley.

However, a report from The Telegraph (19 May) claims that the Magpies have no interest in selling their star man despite a potential £150million jackpot.

It states that the 25-year-old, who has three years left on his contract at St. James’ Park, has been told that he will not be allowed to leave this summer.

Liverpool will have to look elsewhere for attacking signings

Given the Geordies’ reluctance to sell their key player, the Reds will have to look elsewhere in the market.

The L4 outfit have been linked with Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, who has all the attributes required to play as a false nine and would free up Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz to cause even more havoc down the wings.

They have also been credited with interest in Atletico Madrid and former Manchester City star Julian Alvarez, who would be more of a traditional number nine with Darwin Nunez potentially going the other way, which would sweeten the deal.

One thing is for sure, the future is exciting under Slot, especially with the American owners loosening their purse strings after years of frugal spending under Jurgen Klopp.

There is the potential for Slot’s side to become even more dangerous with the right additions and it looks like they are heading in that direction with deals for Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez on the cards.

Isak would have been the cherry on top of a potentially brilliant summer, a devastating goalscorer to share the burden with Salah but not getting him is not a disaster, not by any means.
