Liverpool given Kudus transfer answer in West Ham United exit revelation

Liverpool may still be celebrating their Premier League title success, but that is not to say plans will not already be in place ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Reds only brought in Federico Chiesa last summer, and the Italian was one of the least-used members of Arne Slot‘s squad this season.

That is all the more credit to Slot for the incredible work he has achieved at Anfield in such a short space of time.

Slot will almost certainly be backed in this summer’s transfer window, with West Ham United ace Mohammed Kudus among those to have been linked.

Kudus targeted by Liverpool ahead of summer window

Kudus was superb for West Ham in his debut campaign at the London Stadium, but he has not lived up to those standards this season.

Still, there have been widespread reports that Liverpool want to sign Kudus from West Ham, with the Ghana international up for a potential £80million switch.

However, according to Graeme Bailey (17 May), Anfield is not Kudus’ most likely next destination if he leaves West Ham this summer.

Instead, a move to Saudi Arabia is said to be the preferred option, with mega-rich clubs preparing bids for the summer.

Kudus set for Saudi Arabia move

Missing out on Kudus, if he was indeed a target of Slot’s, is of course a transfer blow for Liverpool.

However, the window has still not even opened and there is plenty of time to look at other options.

Indeed, Kudus is not exactly a name that gets most Liverpool fans excited, so there is no harm done.

There already appear to be plans in place to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, which will hopefully kickstart a summer of busy transfer activity.

Another forward will still be wanted by Slot, and if it is not to be Kudus then it is worth looking further afield than the Premier League.

Before thoughts can turn to the summer window, though, Liverpool still have a trip to Brighton and then a home clash with Crystal Palace to bring down the curtain on a memorable season.
