Liverpool fans love Reds post immediately after Man City loss in FA Cup final

Liverpool won the Premier League with ease this season and are already setting their sights on further silverware in the coming years.

Arne Slot unexpectedly triumphed in his first season in charge as Liverpool won the title with games to spare, with their rivals also faltering.

Manchester City won the last four Premier League titles in a row, but collapsed this season and have now ended up without a major trophy after a Saturday to forget.

Crystal Palace lifted the FA Cup for the first time with a 1-0 win over City, with Liverpool target Adam Wharton impressing, and there was also more significant news for the Reds.

Liverpool fire shot at Manchester City after FA Cup flop

Palace securing the FA Cup means that they will now play Liverpool for the Community Shield to start next season, with another trip to Wembley booked.

Liverpool’s admin on X was quick-fingered enough to point this out on the stroke of the full-time whistle as City fell to defeat in the final, and Reds lapped it up as their opponents for the curtain-raiser in August were confirmed.

One fan was less impressed and pointed out the significance of Palace’s victory.

Liverpool must avoid ‘Community Shield curse’ next season

While winning the Community Shield is a good way to kick off a season in theory, recent history suggests that the winner does not necessarily enjoy the rest of their campaign.

City won it earlier this season, but saw their worst campaign in years as they crashed out of all the other competitions before losing to Palace.

Arsenal won it in 2023, and fell just behind City in the title race, while Liverpool’s last Community Shield triumph was followed up with a fifth-place finish in 2022-23.

Slot will be hoping to add to his trophy cabinet, but Liverpool must not fall into the trap of complacency if they triumph at Wembley in August.

Palace will also be hoping to win their first-ever Community Shield following their FA Cup triumph, with their excellent performance emphasising that they will not be easy opponents at the start of next season.
