Conor Bradley sent ‘clear message’ by Arne Slot after £30m update at Liverpool

Trent Alexander-Arnold rocked Anfield after breaking the news that he is leaving Liverpool upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season.

The right-back is expected to make the move to Real Madrid at the end of the campaign, leaving supporters miffed about him going on a free transfer.

In the meantime, Arne Slot has opted to give minutes to Conor Bradley in the final run of the season to assess his readiness to take the right-back spot next term.

Liverpool set to trigger Jeremie Frimpong release clause

Slot knows the pressure is on for him to replicate the success of this season and show that the Premier League win was no fluke.

With Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk having extended their contracts at Anfield, the Reds are an incredibly attractive side for any prospective signing this summer.

Slot is aiming high in his aims too, with Jeremie Frimpong one man on the list of transfer targets.

The right-back, currently of Bayer Leverkusen, has been subject to Liverpool interest for some time now, but the Reds are seemingly ready to up their pursuit of the defender.

According to The Times (15 May), Liverpool are now ready to approach Bayer Leverkusen and formally trigger the £30million release clause of Frimpong.

Although conversations have already been underway with the player himself, the Merseyside outfit are looking to make things official.

Conor Bradley to wait for his Liverpool moment

Bradley has shown plenty of promise at Liverpool, and when Alexander-Arnold’s departure was announced, there were suggestions that the 21-year-old could be the number one option.

It’s clear that Slot is a fan of the youngster, and clearly, he has the talent to succeed, but the manager has sent a clear message that his fitness struggles have left him too risky to be the sole option.

With a fair value on Frimpong’s release clause, too, it leaves Liverpool with an easy decision to make, but the current Bundesliga player certainly won’t be coming to Anfield to sit on the bench.

Liverpool want Frimpong.

Therefore, Bradley is going to have to continue his wait to become the number one right-back for Liverpool, showing his quality when given the opportunity.

Thankfully, at a young age, there is still plenty of time to become established and having such a quality player to learn from cannot hurt his development either.
