Liverpool have nothing to play for when they travel to Brighton this weekend, with the Premier League title in the bag.
As for the Seagulls, they are very much in contention for the European places, but cannot afford to drop points in their remaining fixtures.
While they will want to finish on a high, it is understandable that Liverpool may be lacking in drive as the season draws to a close.

Given Arne Slot’s side are eight places above Brighton in the Premier League table, one would think they would enter the game as overwhelming favourites.

As for Fabian Hurzeler’s side, they occupy ninth position but are behind Brentford by only goal difference as they chase Europe.
The South Coast club are in decent form and are unbeaten in their last three with wins over West Ham and Wolves.
With much to be decided, finishing eighth could be enough to secure European football next season.
Liverpool are made slight favourites for the Premier League clash and have a 39.1 per cent chance of winning, according to Opta’s supercomputer.
As for Brighton, they are given a 36.7 per cent chance of victory, while a draw is 24.2 per cent likely.
Brighton will be tough opponents for Liverpool
Football is all about timing, and Hurzeler’s men are poised to play the North-West club at the perfect time.
Furthermore, Brighton have so much still to play for and will surely have the desire to clinch a famous win over the Reds.
However, the head-to-head between the two clubs swings in Liverpool’s favour; the Merseyside club have won the last three meetings.
Hurzeler has attacking strength that can cause Slot problems, with Danny Welbeck, Yankuba Minteh and Joao Pedro all available.
Of course, Liverpool do not need a big performance, but they can be forgiven if they are not at their blistering best.
