Mohamed Salah ‘delighted’ as Liverpool make brand-new announcement

Mohamed Salah has had an unbelievable campaign for Liverpool.

The Egyptian superstar’s 46 goal contributions in the Premier League have helped spearhead the Anfield outfit to the title.

Salah has a chance to break the record for contributions in a single season, which is currently held by Alan Shearer with 47 in the 1994/95 campaign.

The 32-year-old could also break the record for assists in a single campaign, currently held by Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry with 20. However, Salah needs three assists in two matches.

Salah has had a remarkable season in the Premier League

Iconic commentator Ian Darke – speaking exclusively to Liverpool News – believes that Salah has been the best player in the league by a considerable margin, but will not be too phased if he does not break more records.

“Salah is the standout player of this Premier League,” Darke said.

“However, I am a little bit old school about this new obsession with goal involvements. You don’t get many assists if you play for a team at the bottom who can’t put the ball in the back of the net, no matter how many chances you create.

“What is an assist anyway if I knock the ball to you, 25 yards out, and you lash it in the net, I get an assist, but I won’t get one for a defence-splitting ball that the full-back cuts back and somebody scores. Therefore, I don’t think we should get too carried away with the assists.

“Looking at his goals, he is not only scoring goals, but he is looking like a threat all the time, and scores big goals as well. Therefore, if he can collect another record along the way, he will take that.

“However, I think he will be happy enough with his new deal and the title.”

Salah to terrorise Premier League defences for years to come

Fenway Sports Group put their money where their mouth is and signed Salah to a new deal. As a result, Premier League defences will have to struggle against the forward for two more years at the very least.

Salah has shown no signs of slowing down and should win every award available domestically.

In addition, he has an outside chance at the Ballon d’Or after the Reds exited the Champions League to Paris Saint-Germain in the Round of 16, but will be happy with any accolades that he does pick up.
