Liverpool have to get rid of struggling star, Leeds deal now perfect option

Liverpool’s transfer window must be excellent this summer if they are to build on their Premier League success.

With the Reds no longer having anything to play for, all eyes are on their transfer activity.

There has already been plenty of controversy when it was announced that Trent Alexander-Arnold would be leaving Liverpool on a free.

Therefore, signings in defence are expected to replace the England international.

However, on top of Alexander-Arnold, Arne Slot must also consider selling Kostas Tsimikas to Leeds United this summer.

Tsimikas to Leeds United is a no-brainer for Liverpool

Tsimikas has struggled at Liverpool since the arrival of Slot.

The Greek international cannot hold down a place in the starting XI and hasn’t impressed whenever he has been on the pitch.

While the 29-year-old has proved to be a good squad option throughout the past five seasons, now is the time for the Reds to part with the full-back.

Tsimikas has helped Liverpool win multiple titles

The Daily Mail (14 May) recently claimed that Leeds United were looking to sign Tsimikas this summer.

If the interest is genuine, Liverpool have to sell the full-back to the Yorkshire club.

It is clear that Tsimikas is never going to have the ability to play regularly in the starting XI.

On top of this, the 29-year-old’s contract runs out in 2027, meaning there isn’t long left for the Reds to get a fee for the defender.

Liverpool need to overhaul their defence this summer

As it stands, Slot’s defence does not have a long-term future.

On top of Alexander-Arnold leaving, Ibrahima Konate also looks likely to depart Liverpool in the future.

Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson are not getting any younger either, which means that multiple defenders will need to come into Anfield to address these issues.

Hopefully, Slot already has targets in mind and Liverpool can take advantage of their recent success to secure top new signings this summer.
