Brighton v Liverpool preview: Team news, lineups, predictions

Liverpool travel to Brighton on Monday for their penultimate game of their Premier League campaign.

Arne Slot’s side have a chance to return to winning ways after two matches without a victory.

However, it will now doubt be a difficult test as the Reds travel to the AMEX Stadium to face off against a Brighton side chasing European football.

Preview

There is little on the line for Liverpool after they wrapped up the Premier League title a few weeks back.

However, Slot’s side could break a club record if they score past Brighton on Monday as they aim to be the first Liverpool team ever to net in every top-flight away match.

In comparison, Brighton have plenty on the line. The Seagulls sit ninth, and are only goal difference off eighth, which could be a spot in Europe by the season’s end.

Team news

Joe Gomez remains the out player unavailable for Liverpool going into the match.

It remains to be seen if Slot will play Trent Alexander-Arnold after he was booed by the Anfield faithful last weekend.

For Brighton, James Milner will not be given a chance to play against his former club after it was confirmed that he would not return from injury before the end of the season.

On top of this, Solly March, Ferdi Kadioglu and Georginio Rutter are also out on the sidelines for the Seagulls.

However, Brazilian Joao Pedro is available again after serving his three-match ban.

Predicted lineups

Brighton: Verbruggen, Wieffer, van Hecke, Webster, Estupinan, Quomah Baleba, Ayari, Lamptey, O’Riley, Minteh, Welbeck

Liverpool: Alisson, Bradley, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson, Gravenberch, Elliot, Mac Allister, Salah, Diaz, Gakpo

Prediction: Brighton 1-1 Liverpool

While Liverpool are the champions, they have clearly taken their foot off the gas since they won the title.

In comparison, European football is on the line for Brighton, and they know they need a win if they stand a chance of achieving this.

As a result, it is likely Brighton will at least pick up a point, but Liverpool will equally want to score to get their club record.
