Alexis Mac Allister is at the centre of a controversial decision just days before the Premier League clash between Liverpool and Brighton.

Liverpool can take pride in the fact that three of the players nominated for the accolade are from their ranks.
However, they will be infuriated by the Premier League’s decision to snub Mac Allister, who has been one of the best midfielders across Europe this season.
With 10 goals and assists to his name, the Argentina international’s importance to the Reds and their road to glory in the English top flight cannot be understated.

While the competition for the eight nominations would have been stiff, the decision to leave Mac Allister out of the list remains controversial.

It is worth noting that Gravenberch is also in the running for the young player of the season award.
Meanwhile, Mac Allister has every right to be fuming at the Premier League’s shocking decision not to consider him for the accolade.
Many Liverpool fans would not have minded seeing Gravenberch only nominated for the young player of the season award, with Mac Allister taking his place in the other list, although both deserve to be nominated for the accolade.
