Arne Slot ‘could be forced into sale Liverpool shouldn’t make’

Liverpool are preparing for a busy summer in the transfer window.

Arne Slot is set to lead a major overhaul as the Dutchman puts the finishing touches on the Premier League title-winning squad.

The only signing last summer that featured this season was Federico Chiesa, who was one of many players who were handed a limited amount of gametime.

Huge incomings are expected but there could be some important exits too, not just Trent Alexander-Arnold’s, which has already been announced.

Harvey Elliott attracting Premier League interest

Elliott is one of the players who has struggled to feature regularly under the Dutch head coach and his future could lie away from Anfield.

A report from Molineux News (13 May) claims that Wolves believe that the Reds star would be a great fit for their team.

It states that the Old Gold are keeping track of the England Under-21 star, ahead of a potential summer move.

Slot set to make Elliott mistake at Liverpool

It seems that Elliott will depart this summer, ending his six-year association with the club that he supported as a boy.

The former Fulham man struggled with injury in the first half of the campaign but has been underutilised by Slot since returning to full fitness, with a goal in a cameo against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League being the highlight of his season.

Elliott’s stats this season.

The 22-year-old is one of the most promising talents in English football and just needs a run of games to get back into his brilliant creative rhythm.

Player development is not linear, not all players develop at the same rate, giving up on Elliott at this stage of his career would be a mistake and the Reds will regret it, if he turns into a superstar with another team.

He is more than capable of playing a significant role next season, his creative numbers were among the best in the league last season.

However, if he does not get assurances over his playing time, he will have no choice but to leave, which is a huge shame and could turn out to be the wrong decision and backfire massively on the champions if he fulfils his potential elsewhere.
