Arne Slot ‘will be raging’ as Real Madrid could hand Liverpool triple transfer blow

Liverpool have been dealt several blows by Real Madrid over the years, and there is now even more reason to be annoyed at the Spanish giants for Arne Slot.

Trent Alexander-Arnold will depart Liverpool this summer to likely join Madrid in a move which has caused a lot of anger, and the Reds could also be thwarted again.

Real Madrid have beaten Liverpool in two Champions League finals in the last decade, and they are also set to hire Xabi Alonso, who was a target for the Reds last year.

Now, with Liverpool aiming to strengthen their squad, a key target for Slot appears to be closer to the Spanish capital than Merseyside.

Dean Huijsen to choose Real Madrid over Liverpool

Liverpool are targeting Bournemouth star Dean Huijsen, but the Spain international could now be set to move to Real Madrid instead.

Several Premier League clubs including Arsenal and Chelsea are also keen on the defender, but he may reject this English interest to move to Spain.

Spanish outlet Marca (13 May) have now reported that Huijsen is in favour of Real Madrid, with the La Liga side willing to pay his £50million asking price in three instalments, and a deal could be closed in the next two weeks.

This is a blow for Slot, who was keen on adding the young centre-half to his squad, and there could be further trouble in the position.

Real Madrid also targeting Ibrahima Konate

Liverpool and Slot’s dislike for Real Madrid could yet increase, as they are also targeting Ibrahima Konate for a free transfer in 2026.

Konate has one year left on his deal at Anfield, and fans may now wish to see him sold if he does not extend, to avoid another situation like Alexander-Arnold’s.

Marca have also reported that Real Madrid are still keen on the Frenchman to sign him on a free next year, and this could make things extremely difficult for Liverpool.

Real Madrid could end up lining up with a back four including Alexander-Arnold, Konate and Huijsen in the future, when this could have been Liverpool’s long-term defensive line instead, and they will be frustrated that the La Liga giants have disrupted their plans of success again.

Slot needs to move on quickly, but FSG need to make sure a possible summer like this never happens again at Anfield.
