Shearer urges Liverpool to sign right-back Arne Slot knows ‘better than anyone’
Alan Shearer has speculated on Arne Slot’s transfer plans in the wake of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure from Liverpool.
Liverpool are in for a huge end to the season, as they eagerly wait to lift the Premier League title in front of a packed Anfield stadium on 25 May.
However, Slot will also have one eye on next season, as he looks to take the Reds further after a spectacular debut season on English soil.
The Merseyside-based club are certain to have one huge change to their squad, with Alexander-Arnold confirmed to be leaving when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Shearer urges Liverpool to sign Denzel Dumfries
It has been evident for a while that Alexander-Arnold is on his way out of Liverpool, but the official announcement earlier this week has not gone down well among the fans.
Nevertheless, the Reds must now turn their attention towards finding an ideal replacement for the England international, although Conor Bradley is already raring to go.
Shearer is of the view that Denzel Dumfries would be an ideal option for the Anfield outfit after being impressed with his performances in the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Barcelona.

The Newcastle icon also believes Slot will know the Inter Milan star ‘better than anyone’, as they are both Dutchmen.
“Although Denzel Dumfries plays in a completely different system with Inter, there’s no doubt that he’s shone”, Shearer wrote in his column on the Betfair website (10 May).
“His energy has been incredible, and the most impressive thing is how good he’s been in forward positions.
“He’s got a couple of goals in the semi-finals. Defensively is a different question, but certainly offensively, he’s a very good player.
“Arne Slot will know him better than anyone, being a fellow Dutchman.
“Signing for Liverpool would be an option, but he’s got the chance of winning the Champions League with Inter, and he’s also got a chance of winning the league, so he’s obviously in a very healthy position.”
Dumfries won’t move to Anfield
There is no doubt about Dumries’ abilities as a right-back. The Dutchman also appears to be close friends with Cody Gakpo, going by the Dutch duo’s social media activity.
However, it is hard to see the Inter star move to Anfield this summer, especially considering he is already 29 years old.
It would be very unlike Liverpool to sign someone who is over 25 years old.
Therefore, the Merseyside-based club are likely to turn their attention elsewhere, with Jeremie Frimpong among those said to be on their radar.
The Reds have also been credited with an interest in Vanderson and Wesley Franca.
