Liverpool star Van Dijk reacts to Tottenham ace after Europa League development

Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk has reacted to Micky van de Ven after Tottenham reached the UEFA Europa League final.

Van Dijk and Co. are set for a relaxed end to the season, having already clinched the Premier League title and scheduled a trophy parade on 26 May.

The same is not true for Tottenham, who hope to end their disastrous campaign on a positive note by winning the Europa League.

Spurs reached the Europa League final after beating Bodo/Glimt 5-1 on aggregate in the semi-final and are now set to face Manchester United in Bilbao on 21 May.

Van Dijk reacts to Van de Ven’s Tottenham message

Having lost 19 of their 35 Premier League games, Tottenham are stuck in 16th place in the Premier League with three games left.

Therefore, winning the Europa League is the only chance of qualifying for European football next season and allowing them to move forward with their transfer plans this summer.

Van de Ven is thus determined to help the North London giants beat Manchester United in the final at San Mames in two weeks’ time.

“Bilbao, here we come”, the defender wrote on Instagram (8 May) after playing the full 90 minutes in Tottenham’s 2-0 win against Bodo/Glimt in Norway on Thursday.

Liverpool captain Van Dijk was among those who reacted to the social media post, as he was one of over 53,000 people to like it.

He was joined by Liverpool teammate Ryan Gravenberch, who has shared the dressing room with Van de Ven in the Netherlands national team.

Liverpool already focused on summer

Meanwhile, Liverpool will already be focused on the summer transfer window, with the signing of a new left-back and a striker at the top of their wishlist.

The Reds have already been linked with several players in different positions, including Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez and Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez.

While there are no concrete developments yet, Arne Slot is evidently determined to build on his success this season.

Van de Ven is contracted to Spurs until 2029, but it remains to be seen if he can be tempted to leave North London if they fail to qualify for European football.
