Peter Crouch leaves Ferdinand stunned with Alexander-Arnold admission

Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old’s decision to leave Anfield has not sat well with supporters, who have labelled the England star as a Judas in the aftermath.

The boyhood Red is expected to complete a free transfer to Real Madrid once his contract expires on 30 June but Los Blancos are trying to accelerate the deal for the FIFA Club World Cup.

Many observers have failed to understand the frustration of fans, and believe that they should wish him well ahead of the new chapter after his contributions to multiple successes on Merseyside.

Peter Crouch nails Alexander-Arnold fury as Liverpool exit looms

Alexander-Arnold’s exit is a devastating blow for the Anfield faithful with the likes of Jamie Carragher questioning the motivations behind it.

Crouch has explained the reason that Reds supporters are so angry that their local talent is leaving and it left Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand stunned.

Speaking on the Rio Presents podcast, the ex-Red said: “For every single Liverpool fan, it is the only thing that matters.

“What they see as a young player in Trent is that he has been given the opportunity to represent this club, why is he even dreaming of going somewhere else.”

Ferdinand responded, saying: “Now you put it like that, you’ve probably explained it the best I have heard anyone explain it.”

Liverpool supporters will love what Crouch said

Observers have been constantly giving their opinion on the situation since the announcement was made on Monday (5 May).

Reds supporters have been inundated with journalists and pundits who do not understand their frustrations, such as Everton captain James Tarkowski, speaking on the matter, which has only served to increase their anger.

The local lad has won lots of trophies.

Crouch has a unique view, having played for the L4 club and having a wife who is from the area, he knows how supporters feel.

His opinion is the same as many supporters, who wonder why the Three Lions ace is departing with the Merseysiders set up for success after just winning the title in Arne Slot‘s first season.

It is perhaps a symptom of the modern game, a player leaving their boyhood club, where they have been since the age of six, who are competing for the highest honours for the chance for more fame and fortune and a wider footballing legacy.

Winning with your local club is supposed to be the pinnacle of the game, it seems that it is not the case anymore, at the very least, not for Alexander-Arnold.
