‘Dominik Szoboszlai Liverpool future secure’ after shock De Bruyne news at Anfield

Dominik Szoboszlai can sleep easy knowing his future appears to be safe at Liverpool moving into the summer.

The midfielder has become the first Hungary international to ever win the Premier League this season and will be keen on adding to that at Anfield.

This has come despite a mixed bag of a campaign for the 24-year-old who hasn’t necessarily caught the eye at regular intervals in recent months.

This could have sparked potential exit rumours for Szoboszlai, but it now appears that his future on Merseyside could be safe.

Szoboszlai to benefit from contract news at Liverpool

The Reds made just one signing in Federico Chiesa this year, but the Italian has had little to no impact in his debut season.

As a result, Arne Slot is likely to be preparing for a much busier summer window this time around, with a number of signings potentially set to come in.

This could see the Dutch head coach look to make a number of additions in attacking areas to add depth to his squad at Anfield.

One player who has been linked with a shocking move to Merseyside is Kevin De Bruyne, as his contract will not be renewed at Manchester City at the end of the season.

This has certainly piqued the interest of many supporters, but Liverpool ECHO reporter Ian Doyle has suggested (8 May) that the 33-year-old is unlikely to receive a contract offer from the Reds.

If the Belgium international was to sign, Szoboszlai would likely see his minutes drop or a sale be possible in the summer, so not signing De Bruyne could prove to be huge news for the Hungarian.

De Bruyne would be shock signing at Liverpool

It does feel like the signing of the six-time Premier League winner would be completely bizarre and unexpected in L4.

Typically, the Reds have signed players who have plenty of room to grow and add to the side as their level increases with more gametime.

This has certainly been the case with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, who have contributed largely to recent success.

With that being said, signing De Bruyne would go completely against that and represent a step down, regardless of the quality he possesses.

Sticking by Szoboszlai could prove to be an ideal option for now, especially as Slot moves into his second year of Premier League action.
