Alexander-Arnold ‘owes Liverpool nothing’ amid ‘bitter and twisted’ views
Liverpool have been rocked by the news that Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to leave in the summer.
The Reds’ academy graduate will depart upon the expiry of his contract with a move to Real Madrid expected to be on the cards.
The Spanish giants are trying to secure his signature before the start of the revamped FIFA Club World Cup, which starts on 18 June for Los Blancos, rather than waiting for his deal to run out on 30 June.

Liverpool fans torn over Alexander-Arnold exit
Alexander-Arnold is set to leave the Anfield club after 20 years on the books in a devastating blow for supporters.
Many have criticised the 26-year-old for his decision to leave on a free transfer, rather than securing the L4 outfit a fee for his services.
However, TV Commentator Ian Darke believes that it is not the player’s fault that the Reds will not get any money for their homegrown ace.
Speaking exclusively to Liverpool News, he said: “It is not Trent Alexander-Arnold’s fault that they are not getting a fee for him is it, because they didn’t do any deal and they have let his contract run down.
“I think [supporters] are taking a mellower view, particularly in the light of the fact that he has helped them deliver another championship, and he is a local lad and he has won everything with Liverpool, the title twice over.
“If he does go, with the majority of fans, you would like to think it would be with goodwill and thanks for what he did for the club and a degree of understanding and empathy about his ambitions as a footballer.
“There are always going to be those who are bitter and twisted about it and hold it against him for the rest of his life, but I am afraid that is the way of the modern world.
“My view is, he doesn’t owe Liverpool anything and they don’t owe him anything either, he is entitled to take his chance, if he thinks Real Madrid is the place to go.”

Alexander-Arnold deserves new challenge after Liverpool success
Alexander-Arnold has been a criticial part of the Reds’ success in the last few years under both Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot.
He has won every trophy available to him with his boyhood club, apart from the Europa League, he is well entitled to leave and embark on a new challenge.
Trophy | Times won |
Premier League | 2 |
Champions League | 1 |
FA Cup | 1 |
Carabao Cup | 2 |
UEFA Super Cup | 1 |
FIFA Club World Cup | 1 |
The allure of the Spanish capital is well-documented, the increased level of fame and fortune, the higher likelihood of winning the Ballon d’Or and playing with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham.
Some like Jamie Carragher will question whether winning with Liverpool means more than anything but the chance to widen his footballing legacy will have no doubt been an attractive proposition to the Three Lions ace.
