Sky Sports host stunned at where he’s told Alexander-Arnold could end up – ‘Wow’
Trent Alexander-Arnold will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
The Reds star announced his decision to depart Anfield upon the expiry of his contract as he seeks a new challenge after 20 years on Merseyside.
The 26-year-old is widely expected to join Real Madrid, who have courted his signature for months but a new prediction has been made about where he may eventually end up.
Liverpool touted as future destination for Alexander-Arnold
Arne Slot‘s side will be gutted to be losing the England star because he is one of the best in world football with the ball at his feet.
However, Jay Bothroyd believes that he could end up back at his boyhood club once he is finished at Los Blancos.
Speaking live on Sky Sports News (5 May, 10:54 am), the ex-Arsenal academy star said: “All I’ll say is, the bit I took from that is ‘I’ll be back’.”
Host Rob Wotton was stunned by the claim, responding: “Wow, you think?”
Bothroyd then doubled down on his remarks, saying: “I think there is a big chance he will be back, like he said, it’s his club, if he goes to Real Madrid and performs there, what is to say he won’t go back, he’ll be young enough.”

Alexander-Arnold would not be welcome at Liverpool
Alexander-Arnold has tarnished his legacy with the 20-time league champions; he was set to go down as a forever Anfield hero, but that may not be the case now.
Many supporters are irked with the fact that one of the best players in the world is leaving on a free transfer rather than securing a fee for the club he has been at since the age of six.

He may not be welcome back on Merseyside and given the same type of frosty reaction that the likes of Steve McManaman and Michael Owen get, after they made the same move.
The fact that it is the Spanish giants, who beat Jurgen Klopp‘s side in two Champions League finals will only increase the level of hurt for some fans.
Understandably, he wants a new challenge, and the allure of the Spanish capital is obvious, but it will leave a sour taste for some.
It will be interesting to see the reaction at the final game at the season against Crystal Palace (25 May) as the Reds lift the trophy.
Matchgoing fans will likely wish the England star a fond farewell, but the reaction on social media will no doubt be toxic.
