Liverpool player ratings v Chelsea – Jarell Quansah terrible, Wataru Endo MOTM

Jarell Quansah had a nightmare of a game as Liverpool succumbed to a 3-1 defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

It was evident that Liverpool had not recovered from their celebrations after clinching the Premier League title, as they went behind just three minutes into the game, with Enzo Fernandez scoring the opener.

The champions struggled to assert dominance over Chelsea as the game went on, and it ultimately resulted in Quansah scoring an own goal to double the hosts’ lead before the one-hour mark.

Arne Slot rang out the changes to try and turn things around, bringing on the likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

However, it was not until the 85th minute that the Reds halved the deficit, as Virgil van Dijk got on the end of Mac Allister‘s corner to pull one back.

Chelsea, though, reinstated their two-goal lead after Cole Palmer converted a penalty in the dying seconds of the game.

Quansah has nightmare at Stamford Bridge

Quansah was arguably Liverpool’s poorest performer on the evening, as his own goal left his team at a serious disadvantage.

The centre-back was also booked for a challenge on Fernandez just seconds after his unfortunate own goal.

His nightmarish evening ended with a foul on Moises Caicedo, allowing Palmer to score Chelsea’s third from the spot.
