Liverpool fans blast Gary Neville after what happened v Chelsea – ‘Embarrassing’

Liverpool fans have hit out at Gary Neville after being upset with his commentary on Sky Sports during the 3-1 defeat against Chelsea on Sunday.

The Reds’ first game since being crowned as the Premier League champions did not go according to plan, as they suffered a convincing defeat at Stamford Bridge on 4 May.

Enzo Fernandez put Chelsea in front just three minutes into the match, while Jarell Quansah’s own goal before the one-hour mark doubled their lead.

Virgil van Dijk set the game up for a dramatic climax after halving Liverpool‘s deficit in the 85th minute, only for Cole Palmer to reinstate the Blues’ lead 10 minutes later.

Liverpool fans hit out at Neville over Palmer commentary

Neville was on commentary duty for Sky Sports, alongside Peter Drury, and that itself did not go well among the Liverpool fans, who are always unhappy about a Manchester United icon commentating on their games.

The Red Devils legend took just three minutes to get on the Anfield faithful’s nerves, as he waxed lyrical about Palmer for his involvement in the lead-up to Fernandez’s goal.

Palmer appeared to benefit from Curtis Jones losing his footing in the attacking half, as it allowed Chelsea to launch a counter-attack, which eventually resulted in the goal.

However, Neville claimed that Jones slipped because of the Blues star’s skill, much to the annoyance of the Reds supporters.

The pundit continued to heap praise on the England international throughout the game, and even named him as the man of the match, disregarding Romeo Lavia’s impressive performance.

Therefore, it should not come as a surprise that fans took to social media to blast Neville for his commentary.

Neville slammed on X after Chelsea win v Premier League champions

Fans took to social media to express their discontent over Neville’s commentary, with one supporter accusing him of trying to create a bias towards Palmer in the upcoming player of the year voting.

Someone described the Sky Sports pundit’s commentary as ’embarrassing’, while another claimed he has a ‘terrible’ bias towards Liverpool.

Nevertheless, Liverpool will not be too bothered by the defeat as they have nothing else to play for this season.
