Liverpool new signing could be huge boost for Steven Gerrard elsewhere
Liverpool could do Steven Gerrard a huge favour if he returns as Rangers manager.
The Reds legend is the leading contender for the vacancy at Ibrox and looks set to seal a sensational return to Scottish football.
The 44-year-old has not enjoyed his time since leaving the Govan outfit in dismal stints with Aston Villa and Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq.
The Anfield hero will walk into a Gers side that has several issues but he could be helped by his old club after a new development.

Liverpool interest in Maeda could help Gerrard
Celtic star Daezen Maeda is one of the best players in the Scottish Premiership, notching 16 goals and nine assists in 31 matches.
Reports have claimed that Liverpool are interested in the Bhoys star who is valued at around £25million.
If the Merseysiders follow up on that interest and sign the 27-year-old, it will benefit Gerrard massively if he is appointed to succeed Barry Ferguson.

Gerrard would be glad to see Maeda join Liverpool
Gerrard has made no secret of the fact that his is still a huge fan on his boyhood club, who he made 705 appearances for, winning multiple trophies, including the Champions League.
He would like to see the L4 outfit go and capitalise on their Premier League success in the transfer market and win more competitions but it also may help his transition back into the Ibrix dugout.

Maeda is a critical part of the Hoops title-winning side and has also scored five goals and assisted four times in 19 appearances against the Light Blues.
The impending takeover of the Gers by the 49ers Enterprises group should help to bridge the gap, which currently stands at 17 points.
Gerrard still has a lot of work to do, though, as the squad at Auchenhowie is not good enough; however, if Celtic lose Maeda, it would help to level the playing field.
It remains to be seen whether the former England star takes the role but if he does, he could be given a major boost by his old club.
