Liverpool ‘have Luis Diaz transfer replacement’ after £25m Daizen Maeda update

Luis Diaz has an uncertain future at Liverpool ahead of the upcoming transfer window, as Celtic forward Daizen Maeda catches attention.

The Colombia international has been one of the best players at the Reds over the years, helping Arne Slot win the Premier League title this season.

Diaz has been linked with an exit from Anfield, though, with clubs in Saudi Arabia interested in the 28-year-old attacker.

The 28-year-old winger hasn’t hit the heights of previous campaigns in terms of his performances in recent months, possibly leading to an uncertain future.

Celtic to demand £25m for Liverpool target Maeda

Celtic may demand around £25million for Maeda amid interest from Liverpool, according to TBR Football.

The news outlet reports (1 May) that the Reds have monitored the Japan international this season, as he’s scored 33 goals in all competitions for the Hoops.

It’s been claimed that the Reds, along with several other Premier League teams, have watched the 27-year-old left winger in recent months, as he’s set the Scottish Premiership alight.

Slot will arguably demand reinforcements at Anfield this summer, and Fenway Sports Group (FSG) must ensure the Dutch manager gets what he wants.

FSG must invest in attackers at Anfield next summer

Richard Hughes will let Darwin Nunez leave the Reds in the upcoming transfer window after failing to live up to expectations since moving from Benfica.

Diogo Jota has been injury-prone at Anfield, and the Merseyside outfit should sell the Portugal international for a suitable offer in the coming months.

With Diaz also possibly on the chopping block, Slot will likely need more attacking options at his disposal before the start of next season, and Maeda seems like the perfect option.

Liverpool have a history of signing players for relatively decent prices and developing them into some of the best players.

Cody Gakpo’s initial months at Anfield were underwhelming, but the Netherlands international has been influential in the current campaign.

While the 25-year-old has made the left-hand side of the attack his own at the Merseyside outfit, they’ll undoubtedly need more bodies if several players leave.

While the Premier League is a different beast compared to the Scottish Premiership, Maeda could definitely be a decent squad player for the Reds next season.
