Liverpool favourites to sign Daizen Maeda amid £25m Celtic exit news

Liverpool have emerged as the favourites to sign Daizen Maeda from Celtic this summer.

Maeda has established himself as a key player for Celtic since joining them from Yokohama F. Marinos in a loan-to-buy deal in 2022.

The Japan international has bagged 62 goals and 27 assists in 154 appearances across all competitions for the Hoops, firing them to eight trophies, including four consecutive Premiership titles.

He has been particularly impressive this season, scoring 33 goals in 47 games and thus attracting interest from several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool.

Therefore, Maeda faces an uncertain future at Celtic Park and could be available for around £25million this summer, according to TBR Football.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham have all been credited with an interest in signing the 27-year-old, while Aston Villa, Crystal Palace and West Ham United are also monitoring him.

However, it has now emerged that the Reds are the firm favourites to acquire Maeda’s services from Celtic ahead of next season.

Arne Slot to welcome Maeda

Maeda might not be the fancy signing that the Liverpool fans are hoping for this summer due to his age and price value.

However, Arne Slot would certainly welcome a player like him at Anfield, considering his ability to play across the front three.

The Dutchman will be keen to sign a player who can find the back of the net consistently, and there is no doubt that Maeda certainly ticks that box.

It now remains to be seen if Liverpool will push forward with their interest in the former Yokohama star and get a deal across the line soon.
