Inter right wing-back Denzel Dumfries remarkably scored twice, and Liverpool fans have now taken to X to express their admiration for him as a potential Alexander-Arnold replacement.
Dumfries could be perfect for Liverpool
Dumfries is a wing-back in Inter’s system, but he has played in a back four before, and could fit straight in to replace Alexander-Arnold.
The Dutchman knows Arne Slot as they were both in the Eredivisie prior to their big moves, and like Alexander-Arnold, Dumfries can offer a lot going forward.
The wing-back became the first Dutch player to score a brace in a Champions League semi-final since Georginio Wijnaldum managed it in Liverpool’s famous victory over Barcelona in 2019.
It remains to be seen what kind of fee would be needed to land Dumfries, a key player at Inter, but if he is open to move, then Alexander-Arnold could be let go without too much of a negative impact on the team.
