FSG ‘to pull off biggest transfer masterstroke yet’ amid huge Darwin Nunez update
Darwin Nunez’s time at Liverpool is almost certain to come to an end this summer.
The Uruguayan international made a big-money move to Anfield in 2022, but has struggled to adapt to the English top flight.
This season, the striker has only netted five Premier League goals, with Nunez now benched for Luis Diaz.
It is now expected that the 25-year-old will leave Anfield this summer, but it could still be excellent business for Liverpool.

Nunez to Atletico Madrid for £38million would be excellent business
On the face of it, Nunez’s time at Liverpool has been poor. The striker never truly replaced Roberto Firmino, who left in 2023.
So far, he has only netted 40 goals in 139 games, a disappointing return for one of the club’s most expensive signings ever.

On talkSPORT (1 May), when discussing his potential departure, it was claimed that Spanish giants Atletico Madrid would be interested in signing him on loan and possibly buying him for just over £38million a year later.
Ben Jacobs said: “It is interesting because Nunez will be expected to leave. There is Saudi interest, there is interest from Atletico Madrid.
“The example is a good one because they’re saying €40million to €45million on a loan, possibly with an option or an obligation.
“So you’ve got the loan fee plus that €40million to €45million.”
This would be excellent business for the club. Overall, Nunez was brought in to help the club win the Premier League, and this season he has achieved this.
While he will be sold for a loss, Liverpool will still be getting a big fee for the striker, who will come away from the club with multiple trophies if he does leave.

Alexander Isak is the dream Nunez replacement
In the summer, Liverpool need a world-class striker if they are to progress further.
Manchester City and Arsenal will likely be more competitive in the title race next season, putting more pressure on the Reds.
On top of this, there will be more expectations on the club, especially in the Champions League and the FA Cup, after Liverpool were knocked out of each competition early on this season.
Liverpool have been linked with Alexander Isak throughout 2025. A striker with such a proven record with be a dream signing and would show serious ambition.
Hopefully, if Nunez does leave, the club will bring in a striker like Isak to replace the Uruguayan.
