‘Rio Ferdinand sick to his stomach at news of who Liverpool could sign’
Rio Ferdinand is worried about the prospect of Liverpool strengthening their squad during the summer transfer window.
The Reds won their 20th league title on Sunday (27 April) after thrashing Tottenham Hotspur 5-1, going level with Man United in the process.
It’s something that United fans and former players have had a hard time accepting in recent days, but the Merseyside giants are showing no signs of slowing down, and are now actively pursuing the chance to overtake them next season.
Liverpool will be looking to retain the Premier League in the 2025-26 campaign, and Arne Slot believes that strengthening his side is the way to do that.
The Premier League champions have already retained the services of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, but Slot wants to bring some fresh faces into Anfield as well.

Rio Ferdinand is desperate for Liverpool to avoid signing a top Premier League star
While Liverpool are believed to be in the market for a new right-back due to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s impending departure, and a new left-back simply to improve the squad’s quality, Slot is set to focus his transfer kitty on his attacking options.
Darwin Nunez is expected to be heading out of Anfield’s exit door this summer after failing to win the over the new Liverpool boss throughout his first season in charge.
Victor Osimhen is a name that has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, but it is believe to be an existing player in the top flight of the English game that is Slot’s number one target.
Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak has blown the division away with his quality this season upfront, providing some serious firepower to Eddie Howe’s side.
That has attracted interest from across the division’s top sides, with Liverpool being one of the teams hoping to snap him up this summer.

However, that’s the last thing that Ferdinand wants to see, as he explained on his Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast (April 28).
He said, “I think he could go to Madrid or something like that, I think he should go to Madrid, he can’t go to Liverpool, he can’t go to Liverpool. I don’t want to see this type of dominance, Jesus.”

Liverpool would be strengthened by Alexander Isak
Given Isak’s attacking qualities and eye for goal, there is no doubt that signing him would be a massive deal for Liverpool.
The Reds don’t want to just rely upon Salah to carry the weight of their goals, and having two of the Premier League’s top attackers in the same side would make them a serious threat to any team.
However, it is expected to be an expensive fee for anyone looking to lure the Sweden international away from the Magpies, as Newcastle are actively trying to keep hold of him.
