Liverpool in ‘bang out of order’ claim amid Everton hoax – ‘Do one’
Everton fans have been slammed for trying to spoil the Premier League title celebrations at Liverpool on Sunday.
Liverpool clinched their 20th league title in stunning fashion, as they thrashed Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham 5-1 at Anfield on 27 April.
Dominic Solanke silenced the Anfield crowd with an early opener, but it did not take long for the Reds to assert their dominance over Spurs.
Goals from Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah, and an own goal from Destiny Udogie sealed the game for Arne Slot’s side, with the result kicking off wonderful celebrations inside and outside Anfield.
However, Everton fans did their bit to get one up on their arch rivals, as one person allegedly managed to sell blue flares to Liverpool supporters.
Carlton Cole slams Everton prank on Liverpool
The story goes that one Everton fan managed to disguise several blue flares as red ones and sell them to Liverpool fans ahead of their clash against Tottenham.
The said person went as far as swapping labels on the packaging of the items, forcing some Reds supporters to use them during the celebrations.
Reacting to the hoax, Joe Cole described it as a ‘genius’ move despite his own alliances to the Anfield outfit, although Carlton Cole was not of the same opinion.
Team | Matches | Wins | Draws | Losses | Goal Difference | Points |
C. Liverpool | 34 | 25 | 7 | 2 | 48 | 82 |
15. Everton | 34 | 8 | 14 | 12 | -7 | 38 |
Carlton thought the Everton fans’ actions were ‘bang out of order’, telling them to stay out of the Reds’ celebrations.
“I think it’s bang out of order”, Cole said on the Dressing Room podcast (29 April).
“Why are they getting involved? Just leave it alone, isn’t it, let them have their day.”
“If that’s the only thing you are bringing to the party, then do one.”
Everton fans to bear Premier League title parade
Everton fans had their share of joy with their prank during Liverpool’s title celebrations.
However, they will soon have to deal with another massive party in the city, as the Reds prepare for their title parade in May.
The Merseyside-based club have confirmed that they will celebrate their title triumph with a parade on the day after their final game of the season (Monday, 26 May), which also happens to be a bank holiday.
Several thousand Liverpool fans are expected to flock into the city for the party, meaning the Everton fan who pulled the prank will have to work overtime to spoil the celebrations this time.
