Whiteley sends message ahead of Taylor Hinds milestone with Liverpool Women

Taylor Hinds has been a great servant for Liverpool Women since joining the club in 2020.

The 26-year-old has settled on Merseyside in stints with Everton and the Reds after leaving Arsenal in 2018 after not playing a senior match.

The Jamaica international is a key player for Amber Whiteley’s side, she is vice-captain behind Niamh Fahey and has made 26 appearances this season and scoring two goals in the process.

She is set to reach a huge milestone in the Women’s Super League clash with Tottenham on Sunday (27 April).

Whiteley shares Hinds appreciation ahead of 100th game

Hinds is set to make her 100th appearance for Liverpool Women in the contest at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Sunday.

Ahead of the clash, Whiteley who is in interim charge after Matt Beard was handed his marching orders in February, waxed lyrically about the vice-captain.

Speaking in the pre-match programme, she said: “Taylor’s been fantastic for us. She’s been so consistent and featured regularly in each season that she’s been here, and this season has been no different.

“She’s well-loved and respected in the dressing room and is a brilliant leader for us on the pitch.

“Huge credit to Taylor for hitting that milestone of 100 league appearances and hopefully there’ll be many more to come from her.”

Hinds can be key to Liverpool revival

The Reds have endured a disappointing season but they have risen in the table to fifth place after an upturn in results under Whiteley.

That is the best position that the Merseysiders can finish in, given the fact that they are 12 points behind Manchester City and only have three matches left to play until the campaign concludes.

If the L4 outfit are to turn things around long-term and return to the upward trajectory that they looked to be on when they secured a fourth-place finish after returning to the top-flight, they need to keep Hinds around as a key member of the squad.

Her leadership has been evident, especially since the change in management and a new contract must be a priority for the Reds as her current deal reportedly expires at the end of the season.

Hinds could be a crucial part to the Reds chances of reviving their WSL fortunes after an underwhelming campaign, if she is kept around on Merseyside.

Surely a deal will be done if Whiteley is kept on in the dugout, as she has admitted that she hopes that the defender makes many more appearances for the Anfield club.
