Liverpool injury news: Trent Alexander-Arnold update emerges

Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is unlikely to have fully recovered from his ankle injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert explains that the England international was out with something known as a syndesmotic sprain.

It can take over six weeks to recover, but the 26-year-old was back within a month.

Trent is not yet ready to play the full 90 minutes

The right-back came off the bench against Leicester City and played 19 minutes on 20 April.

He even found the back of the net and celebrated the goal in an iconic manner – perhaps his last one for the Reds.

Despite his return, he still does not seem ready to play the full 90 minutes.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Liverpool News: “He had a high ankle sprain, which is also known as a syndesmotic sprain and it can take over six weeks to recover.

However, he was back within a month and even played 19 minutes against Leicester.

Despite that, I wouldn’t expect him to be near 100% fitness until next season and I think he’s not yet ready to play the full 90 minutes.

Liverpool will find it hard to replace Alexander-Arnold

Replacing Alexander-Arnold at Anfield would be a monumental challenge due to his unique skill set and integral role in their system.

As a world-class right-back, his exceptional passing range, vision and ability to dictate play from defence are rare, enabling Liverpool’s high-pressing, attacking style.

His 81 Premier League assists by age 26 highlight his offensive impact, unmatched by most defenders.

Additionally, his homegrown status and leadership as vice-captain add emotional and cultural weight.

Potential replacements like Conor Bradley or Jeremie Frimpong lack his playmaking precision or experience at the elite level.

Marcus Edwards and the Reds’ recruitment team are a smart bunch and will have already begun working on replacements.

If they cannot find someone like for like, it may need some alterations in the system, but Arne Slot is capable of doing it.
