Richard Hughes can pull off Liverpool transfer masterstroke as ‘serious offer’ prepared

Florian Wirtz is attracting serious attention across Europe, with Liverpool, Arsenal, and Real Madrid all linked with the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder.

The German international has enjoyed another phenomenal season for Xabi Alonso’s side, with 15 goals and 13 assists in all competitions.

Given the midfielder’s consistency at the highest level, it is no wonder that he is attracting interest from some of the world’s biggest clubs, with one preparing a bid.

Witrz bid being prepared by European giant

With Alonso touted to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Madrid, it seems Wirtz could follow his manager out of Leverkusen.

It has been reported that fellow German side Bayern Munich are preparing a “serious offer” for the 21-year-old, and negotiations with the player’s representatives are ongoing, according to Caught Offside (22 April).

Vincent Kompany’s side are on course to regain the Bundesliga title, and adding Wirtz to their ranks would raise their stature in European football.

Given the midfielder’s quality and age, it is believed that any club hoping to sign the player will have to shell out somewhere between £103-111million for his services.

Leverkusen, however, remain hopeful of retaining their prized asset and want to extend his current contract, but Arne Slot and Hughes should decide to pounce on the situation.

Liverpool can make statement by landing Wirtz

Liverpool are set to be active in the summer transfer window, with a host of names being linked with moves in and out of Anfield.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Darwin Nunez and Joe Gomez are just three names who are expected to leave Merseyside, while the Reds are said to be keen on strengthening attack and defence.

Hughes is sporting director of the North West club and should help Slot strengthen his side by making a move for Leverkusen’s wanted man.

Wirtz has dazzled in the Bundesliga, with his technical ability, creativity and dribbling setting him apart from his peers.
