Liverpool fans will want Arsenal to win as Premier League title race twist emerges

Liverpool could seal the Premier League title on Wednesday if Arsenal lose to Crystal Palace.

Arne Slot’s side have performed remarkably in his first season in charge, and their key competitors are well behind The Reds.

Manchester City won the last four Premier League titles in a row, but fell off dramatically this season, with Arsenal expected to be the main contenders.

However, Liverpool have blown the rest out of the water, and the title looks certain to be in their hands ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Crystal Palace.

Liverpool could win Premier League title at Anfield

Liverpool know that if Arsenal lose their upcoming clash against Crystal Palace, they will be champions before a ball is kicked at Anfield in their next match.

The Reds will play Tottenham on April 27, and if they win that clash, they will win the Premier League regardless of what Arsenal do.

This means that a lot of fans would actually prefer key competitors Arsenal to avoid defeat against Palace, as it would mean the upcoming game at Anfield is the one in which Liverpool can confirm themselves as champions.

Liverpool have won just one title in the Premier League era, with Jurgen Klopp leading the Reds to victory in 2020, but those celebrations were scuppered.

Liverpool can win title in front of fans

Liverpool’s title victory in 2020 was disrupted by the global COVID pandemic, which meant that fans could not enter stadiums, and their win was confirmed in a different match.

Chelsea’s victory over Manchester City in June 2020 confirmed the title for Liverpool, with players gathering together to watch their triumph unfold.

Fans could not celebrate at Anfield or even hold a parade for such a historic event, but this could be different now.

If Mikel Arteta’s side beat Palace, then Anfield will be packed out in the hope that Liverpool can beat Tottenham to seal their crown, and the jubilant scenes which would follow would certainly top another triumph where the players and fans have to watch from afar.

Arsenal have little to play for in the league as they chase Champions League glory, but Liverpool will hope they can at least draw against Palace to ensure their title is confirmed in the most satisfying way possible.
