Leeds new manager: Ex-Liverpool boss in running after Farke bombshell

Liverpool supporters may see a familiar face in the Anfield dugout soon after Leeds were promoted.

The Whites are set to be back in the Premier League after two years away, but Daniel Farke may not be the man leading them.

The German has succeeded in his mission to get the Yorkshire outfit back into the elite but the Elland Road outfit may look to sack him due to his poor record in the top-flight.

Rodgers could return after Leeds news

Brendan Rodgers endured a tough time at Anfield in his three-and-a-half-year stint on Merseyside.

The Northern Irishman nearly led the Reds to the title in the 2013-14 season but they ultimately lost out to Manchester City.

The 52-year-old was dismissed with the L4 outfit sitting 10th in the league after a dismal start to the next season, as he won just four matches from 11.

Rodgers has since gone on to enjoy success with Leicester and Celtic and is now a leading contender for the Elland Road gig if Farke is handed his marching orders.

The former Swansea boss is 5/1 to replace the German, according to Gambling.com, with the likes of Edin Terzic (6/4) and Jose Mourinho (2/1) ahead of him.

Liverpool fans will not enjoy Rodgers reunion

Rodgers will be remembered much more fondly in Glasgow than he is on Merseyside as his successor, Jurgen Klopp, was one of the best managers in Reds history.

He was the first manager since the 1950s to take charge of the Anfield club for three seasons and not win a trophy and his reign will go down in history as a failure.

That may be harsh but ultimately it will. He came so close to glory but his side could not get over the line when it mattered.

The end of his spell in the dugout felt like a long time coming, as the atmosphere had turned toxic in the final few months, arguably on the back of losing 6-1 to Stoke in Steven Gerrard‘s final game.

Many supporters felt he should have been sacked then but he was given more time by Fenway Sports Group but could not turn it around.
