Liverpool to push for Dean Huijsen agreement amid release clause update
Liverpool are one of a host of clubs reported to be interested in a move for Bournemouth sensation Dean Huijsen this summer.
Spain centre-back Huijsen has impressed at the Vitality Stadium this season and has become a linchpin in Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth side.
While the league leaders will face stiff competition for the Spain international’s signature, it appears they are in serious contention to bring Huijsen to Anfield.

Fabrizio Romano name-drops Liverpool as contenders for Huijsen
Clubs from across Europe have been touted with interest in Huijsen, with Real Madrid one of the clubs rumoured to be interested.
However, Fabrizio Romano explained that the European champions are yet to decide whether to make a move for a centre-back while speaking on GIVEMESPORT’s Market Madness Podcast.
This means that the door is wide open for English clubs to make a move for Huijsen this summer, with several clubs interested.
However, Romano did reveal that any club hoping to sign the Bournemouth defender will have to pay his £50million release clause.
He said: “This is why the timing is helping the English clubs. So Liverpool will be there, Arsenal will be there, Chelsea will be there.
“The release clause is £50m, so the negotiation is on player side, basically. And I’m sure that all these three clubs will push and push again in the next days, weeks, to try reach an agreement with Dean Huijsen and his camp.”
Huijsen signing would strengthen Liverpool for the future
Arne Slot’s central defensive partnership is already strong, with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate providing a solid foundation for the Reds.
Liverpool captain Van Dijk recently signed a new contract, which will keep him at Anfield until the summer of 2027.
However, Liverpool manager Slot would be wise to have one eye on the future, especially given van Dijk is nearing his 34th birthday.
At 20 years of age, Huijsen has his best years ahead of him but he is already showing he is a worthy successor to Van Dijk’s throne.
Since signing from Juventus last summer, the Spaniard has received plenty of accolades for his assured performances for the Cherries.
Not only is he assured with the ball at his feet, but he has been defensively strong, averaging 5.9 clearances per game and winning 60 per cent of his aerial duels (Sofascore).
Dean Huijsen’s 2024/25 Premier League statistics with AFC Bournemouth | Statistics |
Appearances | 27 |
Clean sheets | 7 |
Clearances | 5.9 |
Aerial duels won | 2.3 (60%) |
Accurate passes | 41.3 (85%) |
His form on the South Coast led to him being handed his international debut for the European champions, playing against the Netherlands in the Nations League quarter-finals.
In today’s market, £50m for a player who has world-class potential feels like a no-brainer, meaning the soon-to-be Premier League champions must make a move this summer.
While Arsenal and Chelsea will provide tough challengers to land Huijsen, the allure of trophies and Anfield should place the Reds in pole position.
