Liverpool fans beg Alexander-Arnold after Leicester message – ‘Please’

Liverpool took a step closer to the Premier League title with a 1-0 win over Leicester, but it was Trent Alexander-Arnold who took the headlines.

The 26-year-old scored the only goal of the contest at the King Power Stadium on Sunday, on his return from injury, to spark jubilant celebrations.

However, those celebrations only served to spark rumours about his future as he continues to be linked with a free transfer to Real Madrid.

While Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have penned new deals at Anfield, the boyhood Red’s situation remains up in the air.

The goal from Alexander-Arnold was another brilliant moment from the academy graduate, but his wild celebrations afterwards sparked debate.

Some believed that it was a sign that he was staying on Merseyside, while others thought he was just taking it all in before a move to the Spanish capital.

The Liverpudlian took to X after the contest (20 April) to send a message, saying: “special moments.”

The idea of losing one of their own is devastating for Reds supporters, but it is even worse because he has become one of the best footballers in the world with his boyhood club.

His ability with the ball at his feet will be sorely missed by Arne Slot‘s side on the pitch, if he does depart for Madrid, and fans have pleaded with their local legend to stay.

Obviously the allure of the Spanish giants is well-documented, with the increased fame and fortune and the higher chance to win the Ballon d’Or.

However, the Reds are also a great team and are also contending for the biggest honours, so his potential exit will be a bitter blow.

The idea that Liverpool supporters should be happy for him is utterly ridiculous, as it seems like the Reds’ star has engineered the situation to put himself in this position in previous contract renewals, where he could leave for no fee.

The England star has won everything there is to win with the club that he has been at since the age of six and may well just fancy a new challenge, Reds supporters would not begrudge him that but as Jamie Carragher has argued, winning the most trophies possible with your local club should be the ultimate ambition.
