Alexander-Arnold ‘Liverpool return on cards’ as Real Madrid transfer close
Trent Alexander-Arnold could potentially leave Liverpool in the upcoming transfer window, with Real Madrid interested.
Los Blancos want the England international next summer, and some Reds supporters have already resigned to the fact that the right-back will leave soon.
Alexander-Arnold’s contract at Anfield expires at the end of the season, and it doesn’t look like he’ll sign a new deal.
Having spent almost a decade in the Merseyside outfit’s first team, it’ll be disappointing for fans to see him leave, but a potential return in the coming years may be on the cards.

Graeme Souness makes Alexander-Arnold Liverpool return claim
Alexander-Arnold may return to the Reds one day if he leaves next summer, Graeme Souness says.
The former Scotland international understands the right-back’s possible desire to leave Anfield after winning every title.
Player | Appearances (2024/25) | Goals | Assists |
Alexander-Arnold | 40 | 4 | 7 |
Souness believes that the 26-year-old could potentially return to his boyhood club one day and will be welcomed back with open arms.
Speaking to Sky Sports News on X (21 April), the Scotsman said: “I understand why he fancies another challenge, especially with this Real Madrid. He’s been [at Liverpool] since he was 10 years old. He’s won everything with them. So I understand that challenge.
“He might go wherever he goes and come back. I’m sure he’ll be welcomed back.”

Arne Slot to trust Conor Bradley at Anfield next season
The Anfield faithful will arguably want Alexander-Arnold to stay, but things may be out of their hands.
Arne Slot’s team beat Leicester City 1-0 after the right-back scored a brilliant volley to seal the three points at the King Power Stadium on Sunday (20 April).
The English defender has been one of the most creative outlets in the Premier League over the years, and his departure will undoubtedly be a big blow for the Reds.
Liverpool will be confident of continuing their success without the 26-year-old, though, with Conor Bradley one to keep an eye on.
The 21-year-old has shown massive potential at the Merseyside outfit in recent seasons, and Slot should count on him if a replacement for Alexander-Arnold is needed.
With the Northern Ireland international primed to be the next possible superstar at Anfield, fans won’t be worried too much about losing one of their key players on a free transfer.
While Fenway Sports Group (FSG) should back Slot by reinforcing his squad next summer, they seemingly won’t be worried about the right-hand of defence too much.
Alexander-Arnold’s exit will be sad, but the Merseyside outfit will continue to thrive.
