Liverpool have been the focus of plenty of transfer speculation of late regarding the contracts of three key players.

Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk have both committed their futures to Liverpool, extending their contracts on Merseyside beyond this summer.

However, Trent Alexander-Arnold is yet to do the same and instead has been linked with a move away to Real Madrid.

Arne Slot makes telling Alexander-Arnold admission

Although the contract negotiations have been a big talking point at Anfield throughout the campaign, Slot has done well at keeping the noise to a minimum.

This has certainly been helped by his excellent debut season with Liverpool on their way to collecting the Premier League trophy.

Furthermore, with all three players performing to their same high levels throughout the term, it certainly hasn’t proved to be a distraction on the field.

That being said, the noise has ramped up of late with the season starting to come to a close and the title race over.

Securing two contracts in Salah and Van Dijk is massive for the Reds and could well prove to be influential when it comes to the futures of other players.

However, that may not be the case with Alexander-Arnold.

When asked on Sky Sports by Jamie Carragher how hopeful he was of securing a third contract by the end of the season, Slot replied: “Yeah, I think my answer is always… you know my answer.

“So, we prefer to talk about announcements, not about how things are going in contract negotiations.”

Liverpool set to say goodbye to Alexander-Arnold

Slot’s response to the question asked about Alexander-Arnold is very telling, given his non-answer was more a case of him dodging the question.

Therefore, alongside the reports of an exit to Real Madrid, it does seem to be the most likely outcome in the summer transfer window.

Not all supporters have felt the best about Alexander-Arnold’s potential Anfield departure, making their feelings well-known.

However, securing two of the three contracts and arguably the two most important ones has to be seen as a success for Liverpool.

Not only does this add their strength to the team for next season, but it could also be vital in attracting existing players and new faces to also commit their futures to the Reds.

Slot will feel he has something to prove in the Premier League next season, meaning he has to back up the success of this term. As it stands, his chances are still looking good.
