Arne Slot ‘must avoid Curtis Jones mistake’ in Liverpool v Leicester

Arne Slot cannot afford to repeat a Curtis Jones mistake when Liverpool host Leicester.

It has been another positive week for Slot’s side after Virgil van Dijk signed his new Liverpool deal.

And the Reds can end the week on the most incredible of highs by clinching the Premier League title. For that to be possible, Arsenal would need to lose against Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Sunday (20 April) ahead of kick-off between Liverpool and Leicester at Anfield.

However, even if Mikel Arteta’s side do suffer a shock defeat against the Tractor Boys, Liverpool would still need to capitalise by sealing all three points against the Foxes, which means Jones should be left on the bench after his most recent display.

Jones disappoints in Liverpool win v West Ham

Slot is expected to axe Jones in one of three changes from the 2-1 Premier League win against West Ham at Anfield on Sunday (13 April).

And based on the midfielder’s performance against Graham Potter’s side, it is clear to see why.

Liverpool could win the Premier League against Leicester

Liverpool secured a narrow victory over the Hammers, with Mohamed Salah stepping up once again.

Meanwhile, Andy Robertson proved why he might be finished at Anfield. However, it was Jones whom Slot would have felt particularly let down by.

The Dutchman showed his faith in the 24-year-old by starting him against West Ham, but the midfielder did not repay this faith.

As per Sofascore, while Jones did complete 96 per cent of his passes, none of them were key, and he also failed to provide an accurate cross or long ball.

In addition, the Englishman failed with his one dribble attempt and won just 50 per cent of his ground duels while losing his one aerial duel and giving possession away five times before being replaced in the 68th minute.

Dominik Szoboszlai should replace Jones v Leicester

Szoboszlai was the man who replaced Jones against West Ham, and the Hungary international should take his teammate’s place once again against Leicester, this time in the starting lineup, however.

Jones has enjoyed a positive season, but in a game as big as this one, Szoboszlai needs to be on the pitch to ensure Liverpool get across the line and potentially lift the Premier League.
