Liverpool now want to sign ex-Everton star amid Darwin Nunez exit news

Liverpool could be in the running for several attacking players in what is shaping up to be a busy summer transfer window.

Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract in a huge boost for Liverpool, but with the potential departure of several attackers, the club may plan to strengthen the squad ahead of next season.

Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez are two of the senior players linked with an exit, and Liverpool could need someone with a keen eye for goal to replace them.

On track to become the new Premier League title holders this season, Arne Slot will be looking to continue his side’s domination into the fresh League campaign.

Liverpool lock in Ademola Lookman

Despite their impressive season, Salah has scored double (32) the goals as Liverpool’s next top scorer (Cody Gakpo, 16).

With their third-highest goalscorer (Diaz, 15), tipped to depart the club at the end of the season, Liverpool’s future success could depend on bringing another attacker in.

According to the Italian newspaper Il Girono Atalanta (16 April), several of Atalanta’s players are tipped to be involved in a few spectacular Premier League deals this summer.

Ademola Lookman is just one of those players, and the Nigerian international is said to be high on the Red club’s list.

With West Ham duo Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus also linked to Liverpool, the Reds are on track to build a pretty impressive squad for the future.

Lookman could be an asset for Liverpool

If Diaz and Nunez both depart, Lookman could help replace both players, having played in multiple positions across the final third during his career.

The 27-year-old would bring years of experience to Slot’s side, having scored a hat-trick in the Europa League final last season to both win the competition and wreck Bayern Leverkusen’s pursuit of a historic unbeaten treble.

He has scored 18 goals in 35 appearances for Atalanta this season and has bagged seven assists.

In comparison, Liverpool’s Nunez has scored seven goals in 42 appearances for the Red club, while accumulating the same number of assists as Lookman.

Looking ahead to the new season, with all eyes on what Slot’s Reds will do next, Lookman’s transfer seems like a necessary component for success.
