FSG ‘must break bank’ for Aston Villa ace who has blown Liverpool staff away

Liverpool are in for a big summer transfer window, as Arne Slot and Virgil van Dijk hinted.

Slot made just one addition to his squad after taking the reins at Liverpool last summer, roping in Federico Chiesa from Juventus for a deal worth £12.5million.

The Dutchman is nevertheless on course to lead the Anfield outfit to Premier League glory, doing wonders with the squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp.

It appears Slot will now be rewarded with the chance to make major additions to his ranks this summer, with Van Dijk recently suggesting that the Reds are planning to strengthen their team significantly.

Liverpool prepare ‘serious offer’ for Aston Villa star

Liverpool are expected to strengthen in several areas, including left-back, right-back and centre-forward this summer.

Midfield is another position the Reds are seemingly keen to bolster, with Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers emerging as a top target.

Rogers has moved to the top of Liverpool’s transfer wishlist after shining for Unai Emery’s side, according to Empire of the Kop.

The news outlet reported via their website (17 April) that the Merseyside-based club are preparing a ‘serious’ offer to lure the 22-year-old to Anfield, although they face competition from Manchester City, Manchester United and PSG.

While Aston Villa do not want to let Rogers leave, the England international is said to be ready to test himself on a bigger stage.

And Liverpool are determined to take him to Anfield after senior figures were blown away by his abilities.

The midfielder would certainly not come cheap, but there is no reason why FSG should not break the bank to get a deal across the line.

Rogers would be major coup at Anfield

It is no surprise that Liverpool have been captivated by Rogers, who has bagged 14 goals and 12 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.

At 22 years of age, the former Middlesbrough ace has his best years ahead of him and would therefore be a major coup for the Reds.

Dominik Szboszlai has been inconsistent in the advanced midfield role in Slot’s setup, making Rogers an ideal addition for the runaway Premier League champions.

The Englishman can also play down the left-hand side, which suits Slot, especially if Luis Diaz leaves this summer.
