FSG ‘find new excuse’ to avoid Liverpool transfers after Spain development

The FSG continue to divide opinion among Liverpool fans despite the Reds’ success in recent years.

John Henry and Co. deserves credit for steadying the ship at Liverpool after buying them from Tom Hicks and George Gillett in 2010.

The Reds have added a Premier League title and a UEFA Champions League trophy to their cabinet since FSG’s arrival, while another league title appears to be on the way.

However, the FSG’s reluctance to pump money into new signings as a part of their self-sustenance model has often frustrated the fans.

FSG to save millions on new transfer

Arne Slot is on course to lead Liverpool to Premier League glory in his first season in charge of them, but anyone who has kept tabs on the Reds will know that they need strengthening in several areas this summer.

Both full-back positions need to be bolstered, with Trent Alexander-Arnold on his way to Real Madrid and Andy Robertson’s form leaving much to be desired this season.

The Merseyside-based club could make new additions in attack depending on what Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota do this summer, while a new centre-back could also be on the agenda.

Midfield is not an immediate priority, but Slot would certainly appreciate another option there, as he has had to stretch Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister thin this term.

However, the FSG may have already found an excuse to avoid money for new signings in midfield, as they have often done in the past.

The Liverpool owners could do that by insisting on including Stefan Bajcetic in Slot’s plans for next season.

Bajcetic struggled for playing time at Red Bull Salzburg in the first half of the season, but has been faring well at Las Palmas since joining them on loan in the winter transfer window.

The 20-year-old notably earned his first win with Las Palmas on Saturday (12 April), helping them beat Getafe 3-1.

Although Bajcetic was not involved in any of the goals, his overall performance was so impressive that he received plaudits from local fans and journalists.

His performance also did not go unnoticed among the Liverpool fanbase, with many taking to social media to heap praise on him.

If he continues impressing for Las Palmas, there is every chance that the Reds will include him in the squad next season to help FSG avoid spending money on a new midfielder.

Bajcetic has bright future for Liverpool

However, that is not to say Bajcetic is not good enough to have a future at Liverpool.

The Spain Under-21s international has shown what he is all about even before going out on loan, and there is no doubt that the Reds rate him highly.

However, this should not be an excuse for the FSG to avoid giving Slot the signings he needs.

In an ideal world, the Anfield outfit would bring Bajcetic back into the fold while also adding a more experienced midfielder to their ranks.
