Slot baffles Liverpool fans with Elliott call v West Ham – ‘Criminal’

Arne Slot has made four changes as Liverpool host West Ham on Sunday.

He has stuck with the majority of the team that were defeated 3-2 by Fulham (6 April) in a shock result.

The Reds need three wins to secure the Premier League title after Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw by Brentford on Saturday (12 April).

They will be hoping to take a step closer with victory against the Hammers at Anfield (13 April) and increase the Gunners’ misery.

Slot makes Elliott decision v West Ham

Alisson and Conor Bradley return to the starting line-up as the L4 outfit look to trot towards a 20th title.

Kostas Tsimikas and Curtis Jones get the nod over Andy Robertson and Dominik Szoboszlai after the Reds’ recent poor run.

Despite the Hungarian being dropped to the bench, Harvey Elliott or Federico Chiesa are still not handed a starting berth after an encouraging cameos at Craven Cottage.

Diogo Jota continues to lead the line despite a quiet performance against the Cottagers, with Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah completing the attack.

The Egyptian will be keen to celebrate his new contract with a great performance in front of the adoring masses at Anfield.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Tyler Morton remain sidelined, with returns expected towards the end of the month for the first two Reds stars.

Liverpool fans stunned by Elliott call

The Anfield outfit will be hoping to wrap up the title as quickly as they can and they have the perfect opportunity to do so in their next three matches.

The Hammers enter the contest without a win in their last four league games and Slot’s side can compound their misery on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds could wrap up the title in their next three.

Then the Merseysiders face a trip to face a Leicester side that look set to be relegated back to the Championship before hosting Tottenham, who have endured a miserable domestic campaign and sit 14th in the league.

However, fans have been left concerned after Slot’s decision to not start Elliott against Graham Potter’s side.

The Dutchman is closing in on a remarkable achievement in his first season in charge on Merseyside after replacing Jurgen Klopp last summer and looks set to place himself in the history books but his lack of faith in the 21-year-old is strange.

The hosts were 5-0 victors when the sides last meet in December at the London Stadium and if they can repeat that performance, they will be on the verge on the title with two favourable games afterwards.

The sooner that they mathematically confirm it, the better and they can take a huge step towards their ambitions against the Irons.
