Real Madrid eye Ryan Gravenberch as agent shares Liverpool transfer stance

Ryan Gravenberch has been a huge success story at Liverpool this season.

The Dutchman struggled to make an immediate impact at Anfield, with the midfielder only used sparingly by Jurgen Klopp.

However, since the appointment of his compatriot Arne Slot, the former Bayern Munich ace has become a mainstay at the base of Liverpool’s midfield.

It appears as though the 22-year-old’s performances are not going unnoticed either.

Real Madrid would love to sign Gravenberch

According to Gravenberch’s agent, Real Madrid would love to take the Netherlands international to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Los Blancos have, of course, caused a bit of a stir on the red half of Merseyside in recent weeks following the news Liverpool ace Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to move to the Spanish capital on a free transfer.

And seemingly there are other Liverpool players who Carlo Ancelotti’s side are admiring, with Gravenberch among those.

However, Gravenberch’s agent, Jose Fortes, conceded Liverpool have no interest in selling and exclusively told Marca: “He’s good enough for Real Madrid,” Fortes said.

“We would love for him to play for them, but Liverpool would ask for a lot of money. I know they’ve had their eye on him, but now it’s impossible.”

Liverpool cannot contemplate Gravenberch sale

It comes as absolutely zero surprise that Liverpool have absolutely no interest in selling Gravenberch, especially to Real Madrid.

Relations between the two clubs are not exactly good right now, especially given the way Alexander-Arnold has been courted in Spain for the best part of a year.

The good news is that it looks as though Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are likely to remain at Anfield now beyond the end of their current contracts, so there will not need to be three replacements sourced.

So, it would make absolutely zero sense to consider selling a player who has been so influential in Liverpool’s surge for the Premier League title.

Indeed, given his age and profile he is exactly the sort of talent they should be building their squad around for the next decade or so.

You have to question why his agent is even making these kind of comments. What is he gaining by speaking about this? The chances of Liverpool selling are slim to none as it is, so why even mention it to knowing full well all it will do is stir the pot.

Regardless, the focus has to be on West Ham this weekend and Liverpool taking another step towards the Premier League title.
