David Ornstein shares Liverpool latest after Virgil van Dijk contract reveal

Virgil Van Dijk has finally delivered a positive update on the saga surrounding his contract status at Liverpool beyond this season.

The Reds’ captain is out of contract at the end of this campaign, and there has been very little movement regarding a new deal throughout the season.

His situation has frustrated Liverpool supporters due to his importance to the team and the fact that Arne Slot has relied on him so regularly.

However, this week Van Dijk revealed there has been some progress on his contract situation, which has led fans to believe he will commit his future soon.

Liverpool believe Van Dijk will stay

David Ornstein has now shared that the Reds are confident of extending Van Dijk’s stay on Merseyside.

When speaking on NBC Sports, Ornstein revealed that Liverpool have always been optimistic when it comes to Van Dijk staying, and talks have been positive between them.

It is believed to be a case of when, rather than if, the Netherlands international will sign a new deal with the Premier League giants.

Unless there are any last-minute changes, a deal for Van Dijk is set to go ahead, as he noted that the talks have all been cordial between everyone involved.

Liverpool could still undergo serious change

While Slot might be set to retain the services of Van Dijk, it is widely believed that he will be losing Trent Alexander-Arnold in the summer.

The England international is also out of contract and is expected to be joining Real Madrid as he looks to move to Spain in a bid to continue his career.

Mohamed Salah is the mystery within this puzzle now, as much as the other two; his deal expires at the end of his season.

The Reds are also said to be on the verge of agreeing on a new deal with their Egyptian superstar, and that is critical given his incredible season.

With the Premier League title already en route to Anfield, Fenway Sports Group must ensure that if Alexander-Arnold is to leave, he is the only one.
