Liverpool v Everton: Pundit destroys van Dijk and Konate – ‘Embarrassing’
Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate started as Liverpool kept a clean sheet against Everton at Anfield.
The Reds secured the three points and edged closer to the Premier League title as they beat their arch rivals 1-0.
Diogo Jota scored in the second half and that proved to be the only goal of the game.

Even though Liverpool kept a clean sheet, they looked shaky defensively, especially in the first period.
Beto arguably had the best chance of the game, but he failed to convert a one-on-one chance.

However, the time he did put the ball into the back of the net, he was flagged offside, and rightly so.
That being said, the space he had to make the run, without the Reds centre-backs anywhere near him, could’ve proven to be costly for them.

He said at 8:20 pm on 2 April: “This is embarrassing for the two centre-backs, even though he’s marginally offside. They’ve got to do better.”
Arne Slot along with the Liverpool defenders deserve credit for the second half
While van Dijk and Konate deserved Beglin’s criticism for their first-half performance against Everton, credit must be given to them and Arne Slot for a transformed second half.
The duo’s lapse in concentration allowed Everton’s striker dangerous space, but whatever adjustments Slot made at half-time clearly worked, as Liverpool secured a 1-0 win with a clean sheet.
Van Dijk and Konate tightened their positioning, communicated better and neutralised Everton’s threats, with Konate being imperious in the air and Van Dijk’s composure proving vital.
Jota’s second-half goal sealed the victory, but the defensive resilience showcased the growing understanding between the centre-backs, who have developed a strong partnership this season.
Slot’s tactical tweaks, likely emphasising defensive discipline and pressing, ensured the Reds edged closer to the Premier League title, highlighting their ability to adapt and improve mid-game.
