Liverpool fans will be relieved after latest Fabrizio Romano update on star trio

Liverpool are bracing themselves for a difficult summer transfer window, in which a number of senior stars could leave.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is closing in on a move to Real Madrid, in a move which has angered Liverpool fans.

Losing the right-back is a huge blow for Arne Slot, and there are still plenty of other potential exits to deal with.

Both Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are out of contract at the end of the season, and losing either of them as well would be a nightmare for The Reds. However, there is now some positive news over their futures.

Salah and Van Dijk futures unaffected by Alexander-Arnold exit

With a high-profile player in Alexander-Arnold departing, many may have wondered if his exit has influenced Salah and Van Dijk to follow him out of Anfield.

However, Fabrizio Romano has now reported that the senior Liverpool pair will make their decisions completely independent of the England defender, with their futures unaffected by his exit.

“Alexander-Arnold’s decision won’t impact Salah and Van Dijk’s vision,” Romano told GIVEMESPORT (31 March).

“They are conducting their own negotiations and it doesn’t get affected by Trent or any other player.”

Alexander-Arnold was pictured in Salah’s recent Instagram story, but he is still unavailable to play for Liverpool as he battles through injury.

Liverpool cannot lose Salah and Van Dijk

Losing all three of Van Dijk, Salah and Alexander-Arnold would be near-impossible to recover from in one transfer window, and Liverpool will be wary of this heading into the final few months of their contracts.

While Salah and Van Dijk themselves may be unaffected by Alexander-Arnold’s decision, Liverpool may now be more desperate to keep the veteran pair, knowing that they are already losing one huge name.

In Van Dijk’s case in particular, Liverpool will be wary of the mammoth task of trying to replace one member of the back four, and losing their best defender would place them in a very difficult position in the summer window.

With Andy Robertson also set to be replaced in the starting eleven, the squad rebuild is already shaping up to be a huge one, and keeping the two best players in the team would make the transition a lot easier.
