Liverpool fans react as Salah hosts Alexander-Arnold ‘intervention’

Liverpool supporters have been handed new hope in the Trent Alexander-Arnold saga.

The 26-year-old appeared to be set to join Real Madrid with reports in Spain claiming that he has agreed a deal with the Spanish giants to join when his Anfield contract expires.

However, reports emerged (28 March) that nothing has been agreed upon, and the player and Madrid were surprised by the speculation.

It would mark a sensational turn of events given the amount of speculation in recent days that he will depart his boyhood club.

Salah took to Instagram (29 March) to post a video of himself, Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Liverpool fans want Alexander-Arnold to stay

If Alexander-Arnold were to leave Liverpool, supporters would be devastated, with some already burning shirts after the reports surfaced.

However, the latest post by Salah has raised hopes that the England star could reverse his reported decision and sign a new deal with the club that he has been at since he was six years old.

The loss of Alexander-Arnold would be a devastating blow for the Reds, both on and off the pitch. His creative presence is near-impossible to replace, and he is an academy graduate who has won everything with his boyhood club, which means more to the supporters.

It is understandable if he wants to experience a new challenge, and the allure of the Spanish capital is well documented, with a new level of fame and fortunes and a better chance to win the Ballon d’Or and carve a greater legacy for the wider footballing audience.

However, the chance to win as much as you can with your home club must also be tempting, as Jamie Carragher has argued, and if Alexander-Arnold is to make a stunning U-turn, it would not be too much of a surprise.

There may still be a twist in the tale yet.
